Why Plastic? Be aware that LG uses a small plastic door lock.If it breaks like ours did your washer is useless until you can get LG to fix it. Dealing with LG customer service is a hassle. The representatives are defensive and almost rude. Overall we like our washer. We just want to know why a cheap plastic part if it is so critical to the operation of this machine? Our Lock Broke on December 2nd.Today is December 10th and we have yet to receive confirmation that LG will fix this machine.
Excellent Washing Machine I am going to start out this review stating some actual facts concerning ALL HE and Energy Star compliant washing machines when it comes to HOT WATER.First off EVERY single review you see where people are ranting about Hot water is complete nonsense they have no clue what they are talking about.Unless their particular machine has a malfunctioning Internal Heater then they may have a legit complaint which I am sure that LG or the place of which they bought it would be glad to come out and replace/repair the heater at no charge within the first year.But as far as HOT water coming into the machine this is the simple fact.To comply with Energy Star requirements no machine adds pure HOT water straight from the faucet in the cycles that allow a Hot Wash Cold Rinse.I doubt ANY HE Energy Star rated washers have Hot wash Warm Rinse anymore.ALL hot water is achieved through the INTERNAL HEATER and the HOT water cycle is called Bright Whites which heats the water to 122 degrees in the tub the water comes in warm at best and that depends on how hot the water is in your hot water heater AND how far away your hot water heater is from your washing machine.This washing machine can not magically make the COLD water that is sitting in your hot water lines to immediately turn on HOT.What you need is a Hot Water Recirculating Pump that hooks up to your hot water heater this makes it possible for every faucet in your house including your washing machine to have INSTANT on hot water thus your Warm/Warm cycle will be about 90 degrees or so.
Excellent Washer Great product. We recently had our dryer go so decided to splurge on both the LG Washer WT5101HV and Dryer DLGX5102V combo from HD figuring that the high efficiency dryer would be pretty useless w/o the accompanying HE Washer. What a delight. First the capacity on this washer is huge due to the fact that there is no agitator. Second the clothes come out clean and virtually dry from the washer which cuts down on the work the dryer has to do. Our Laundry Room is on the second floor above the dining room so when the old washer ran it rattled the entire house. With this washer that is not an issueyou can barely hear it running. So far we have had the pair for a month and actually look forward to doing laundry now.
DOES NOT CLEAN I do not recommend this washer because it simply does not clean. At first I thought it was just me and that I needed to learn how to properly use the machine. But after 5 months of trying every cycle and using the tips I received from LG's customer service I still was not satisfied. It didn't clean out hair clippings barf chunks or pretreated stains. Also our whites became dingy looking which definitely was NOT due to using too much soap like is commonly the case.
Infatuated Falling in Love I'm turning into a laundry junky thanks to the WT5101HV and DLex5101V washer dryer combo. My last pair of washer dryer lasted 21 years so I decided to pay the extra price for the best washer and dryer I could find within reason. I chose these LG models on reviews the control layout and in store inspections. I have found the stainless steel interiors and exteriors always last longer and look better over time. They were available at Sears Home depot and Best Buy in my area. I went with Sears but later Home Depot had a better sale and Best Buy better financing. I have had them about 2 weeks.
Good washer but . . . In many respects this is a very good washing machine it is very quiet the clothes come out clean. However it has one major design flaw. No matter what setting you pick apart from sanitary which I did not test the machine dispenses cold water for the first fortyfive seconds. The water coming out of your tap could be fifty degrees in the winter so you can forget about a hot water or even a warm water cycle. Not only that what LG counts as hot is ninety degrees which pretty much all of us otherwise consider warm. If you want really hot water then you have to choose the sanitary cycle but that cycle lasts 2.5 hours!! You cannot choose the extra hot feature on any other cycle so you basically have to choose between ninety degrees for a regular cycle or hundred and thirty degrees for a double long cycle. What were these people thinking?For a lot of people this is going to be a showstopper.
Great set! I just bought this pair and I love them. I can do laundry in half the time and my clothing comes out really clean. I like being able to do bigger loads also. It is nice to be able to wash my comforters without having to leave the house.
Good while it worked. Purchased washer Jan 2010 and was very happy with it up until a month ago. The washer completely stopped working no power to the main circuit board. Today will be my 7th visit from the repairman over the past 6 weeks. So far they have replaced 2 main boards and the stator and still no answer.Beware of this appliance the support is lacking and parts always seem to be on back order.
